Welcome back!

Goodness! I had totally forgotten I had even set this up. As I was wandering through the blogosphere I was thinking that I should start my own blog, and then it hit me.... Didn't I start one way back when we were going to get Meg!?

Well, you will be very excited to hear that now, over a year on not only has Meg grown in the most beautiful of dogs, but we have added a second pooch to our brood! Gizmo the rescue Pomeranian/Shih Tzu cross. Here he is:

Gizmo is two and a half years old. And look at that face, butter wouldn't melt right?! Well let me tell you that adopting a rescue has definitely had its ups and downs. On the upside both Tim and I are in agreement that he is by far the most loving animal we've ever owned. This is evidenced by his love of pinning Tim down by the shoulders to smother his face in kisses after ever walk, and also that he follows me everywhere (and yes I mean everywhere) in the house. Gone are the days when I could pee in my own company.

On the other hand though, Gizmo suffers from aggression. Especially when food is involved or when there are people/dogs he doesn't know. We had an incident a few weeks ago where we let him off the lead and he disappeared into the woods for a good 20 minutes before I had to traipse through the bog and foul dumpings of the wildlife of Nottinghamshire before I managed to call him back to me. This wouldn't be SUCH an issues in itself if it wasn't for the fact that if he happened to meet another dog/animal on his travels I don't know how he would react, and the last thing we want is for a fight to break out. So it's strictly on lead for now until dog school has taken effect. Bring on every Friday evening!

Does anyone else have the same issues with their lovely but challenging rescue dogs? I know that we wouldn't have been able to have a second dog (especially a rescue) where it not for the wonderful and understanding Meg (and wonderful and understanding husband!!). She is so well behaved, and so lovely and peaceful in her temperament that she puts Gizmo to shame, and is teaching him not to be scared and that actually other dogs can be fun. Here is a picture of our lovely lady:
I am a firm believer that it doesn't get much better than that!

Christmas Eve!

And what a stressful day it has been today! Hubby's Grandad turned 90 today and so we were all ready to hot-foot it to Southampton to celebrate, got in the car and a few minutes down the road the engine cut out... turns out we weren't going anywhere in our car! So managed to get it home and change cars...

Having googled the problem, it looks like we might be paying between £6-800 to get the problem fixed...sigh... on the bright side, we made it in time to the party and had a wonderful afternoon. May be having to dip into tax rebate to fix it.

On a happier note, turned on my phone this evening to a lovely text from the lady who is selling us Meg, to give us a new picture and let us know that she is now responding to her name when she is called! Here she is on Christmas eve, looking the complete beauty that she is! Merry Christmas everyone!

Vets Pets

Today has been a day of ill. I woke up with a temperature this morning and so took the day off work to recover and have a duvet day. Whilst I was at home feeling sorry for myself, Meg was also taking a trip to the doctors -today Meg had her first vaccination, which I'm pleased to say went very well. Apparently she didn't even make a noise as the vet was feeding her biscuits at the same time as jabbing her. Success!

Here she is after the days ordeal snuggling with her family and feeling very happy with herself!

Also found out today that she was born on the 25th of October, which means that on Christmas day she will be two months old exactly... aww.

2 Weeks to go!

This time in two weeks, we will have her here with us! We just got back from our Church's Christmas Carol Concert, where I had what Martin called a "redemption moment" and made up for an absolutely shocking solo of Once in Royal's David's City when I was at school and about 14 years old...

Anyway, to commemorate a solo that I didn't totally butcher this time round, I wanted to share some more recent photos of our little one that we received on Friday night... Still to find out exactly when she was born but I think she is about 7 weeks old now, you can tell  already how much she has grown in just a few weeks!  She is off to have her 1st jab on Monday (aww). Here she is...

Lets go back to the very beginning.....

Ok, well, it is almost Christmas, which means that the 1st of December is just 2 weeks away! The day we are picking up our wonderful little ball of fluff!

And here are some pictures of our little baby from 4 weeks old..
4 Weeks..

6 Weeks (She's the one on the left)

I am so excited to see her! We are busy getting the kitchen ready for our little arrival, and reading up on everything puppy. Tim will probably say that I'm a nightmare to live with at the moment, but he is handling it very well! He even took me to pets at home yesterday.. what a good man!
